That’s why the industry is spending millions of dollars lobbying state policymakers, and has mounted a massive disinformation campaign designed to scare New Yorkers into flooding their legislators with emails and calls.

Solar panels, heat pumps, electric cars: clean energy is here, and, as the state ramps up incentives, it will become more affordable.
The fossil fuel industry knows they can’t win in a fair fight. So they’ve been hiding behind front groups with positive-sounding names like New Yorkers for Affordable Energy and Smarter NY Energy and spreading propaganda in a covert campaign to spread fear, uncertainty and doubt about climate solutions.
Over the past two years, they have flooded the state with fear-mongering mailers, TV spots, social media ads, robo-calls, and aggressive lobbying of our state legislators.
They’RE GREENWASHING BUSINESS AS USUAL
To stop heating the climate, we need to stop burning oil and gas. So what do you do if your product is fundamentally incompatible with a livable planet? Spread bullshit, of course!
Knowing it’s too late to outright deny climate change when it’s all around us, the industry aggressively pushes “low carbon fuels” like biogas, hydrogen, and so-called biomass. But all those pretty much continue business as usual.
